  | An elf and an assassin? I know, unusual allies, but it's a fact. If you don't believe me, just try to harm one of us and you'll find the other holding a blade across your throat. I'm Opal by the way, the elf (for context see 'Opal-Gypsy Elf'), and that rather silly looking human beside me is my companion and friend, Khory. Don't call her silly looking to her face though, she's an assassin and she might take it personally, in which case she'll follow your comment up with something sharp and painful. We get along though. Now I know you're probably thinking 'but assassins are supposed to be loners.' And you would be right. But let me explain why. In an assassin's line of work, the day you start trying to make friends and picking up partners is the day you get your throat cut and your money pouch stolen. Or, if you watch your back, and he is smart, it doesn't happen until after you kill the target and before you're supposed to get paid. Well, I happen to not be an assassin, and never have and never will help Khory in what she does, so that solves that little problem. In truth I think she's lonely (not that she would ever admit that). Though I've wisely never asked, I think she lost her family when she was young, and never had someone to depend on while growing up. I think she went through some very painful experiences as a child, and I respect her for that and try to keep my distance. Maybe she'll open up to me over time. Or maybe not, you never know with assassins. ***This is a picture of me and my sis taken by my da for me (with mine and my sister's consent). We both made our respective costumes.*** |
