| 31 Dec 2003 | Maija Viertola | Loading...Hey! You got a gallery! Welcome to the woods, friend. I'm going to keep checking you out... erm... your gallery, that is. Nice work making the Photoshop-coloured pictures look like pastel drawings! Jelena 'Sade Lyrate' Rosenberg-Vahtera replies: "I seem to have this ability to follow where you've already gone...but blame my laziness for my tardiness... Thanks! Believe me when I say they turned out that way accidentally? (And the tweaking of opacity of layers...and mixing and matching...)We'll see what I manage to do here...Keep up the good work you, too!" | |
| 8 Jan 2004 | Mandy Elliott | Loading...Welcome to the woods. Though i'm not sure how long you have been here i only stumbled upon your lovly little gallery t'day. I have had the erge to draw a single feather, though perhaps not a pheonex but have been unable to do so as beautifully as you have done. Keep it up. Jelena 'Sade Lyrate' Rosenberg-Vahtera replies: "Thanks for the welcome...and the compliments. It's nice to be here in the woods!" | |
| 11 Jan 2004 | Jessebelle 'Nightmare' Fice | Loading...Hi there! I just came by to thank you for the comment on my gallery. It really made me smile. Jelena 'Sade Lyrate' Rosenberg-Vahtera replies: "You're welcome, and thanks for paying a visit here! It's appreciated." | |

That is not a bad thing, you're obviously exploring things with a softer and simpler touch - and that takes courage. You might indeed find a style that stands out, I just think you need more work, and perhaps spend more time on the pieces. There is a style called 'naive art' which sounds like an insult but it's not. "Grandma Moses" was like this, created by an early American artist, and it's quite famous. Naive art means that without instruction, or typical craft, the artist is still communicating in a broader sense, (though usually abstract) and with a different primitive look than we are all trained to see. You have something going on here - it's just difficult to nail. You might want to try getting even more experimental and abstract, and worry less about accuracy. I hope this can encourage you to keep at it. As I said before - more work! Jelena 'Sade Lyrate' Rosenberg-Vahtera replies: "The drawings that flow from my tools aren't what I'm 'used to' seeing, either, and that makes me doubtful occasionally. But thank you, truly, for good critique. And for the encouragement. 'Naive art'? An insult? Hardly! It's something I've thrived for ever since my baby was born. So perhaps I'm learning. And thus the last thing I'm going to do is quitting! It just feels that I can't thank you enough, for your comments, and for your artworks that inspire. Thank you, thank you, thank you."
| 2 Apr 2004 | Ben Richardson | Loading...I really like the simplicity of your work. It reminds me of my own style, and I can completely understand your reasoning behind it. I have that same bad tendency to overwork things because of perfectionism. Keep up the good work, and, if you don't mind, if I ever get an Elfwood gallery, I'd like to link to yours. Jelena 'Sade Lyrate' Rosenberg-Vahtera replies: "Thank you for your comment. Perfectionism is sometimes a bad puppy. Bad, bad puppy. But if it helps to create works that please the eyes, it's okay, methinks. By all means, come, join the 'woods. There's room still! And I definitely wouldn't mind being linked to. Thanks, and hopefully I'll see your works, one day. Drop me a line if you indeed do enter these lovely 'woods. " | |
| 9 Apr 2004 | Jessica L. Stachyra | Loading...Hey! I really like your gallery u are a promising artist! I really love your style, its very simple and soft, which actually allows, I believe, you to communicate more emotion through it to the viewer. Cool stuff! Jelena 'Sade Lyrate' Rosenberg-Vahtera replies: "Wow, thank you! I'll have to start asking what you people mean with 'softness' (colours?)... And go giddy about managing to communicate emotions without facial features whatsoever! Thank you for commenting!" | |
| 13 Apr 2004 | Rebecca Divine Margeson | Loading...This stuff is so pretty! And unique. You make even simple line drawings look so special! Wow...Now that is somethin gto be proud of! Keep it up! Jelena 'Sade Lyrate' Rosenberg-Vahtera replies: "And the feedback I've gotten in Elfwood has assured me that even simplicity can be appreciated. Thank you, thank you truly for your comment." | |

I was wondering if you'd mind if i use one of your pieces as a tattoo. Or maybe you'd be interested in creating comething new that i could use for a tattoo? If you're up for it please email me. If not i understand completly.
