SciFi and Fantasy Art New Ollum by Doug Strudwick

My friend, Zachariah Campbell (please check out his gallery!), once said that he pictured everything about a dwarf to be thick. I have to say that my previous attempts at Ollum were not quite what I would call 'thick'. This just sort of happened as I sketched. I hope I achieved something along the lines of what you were thinking of Zach! This is why I love comment and critisisms! A chance the try something different. All pencils; F and B for shading.

30 Sep 2002	Rob Le Couteur	Loading... Neat! It must make him extra cheezed off to have tiny hammers bouncing off his chest. I wonder if they create a battle rhythm for him to fight to! He looks very intense! Cool!
2 Oct 2002	Nathan A. Jones	Loading... Now that is a definition of widebody. Ollum has a very aggressive look now. Comparing the two versions (three with the colour one) is interesting because it really feels like two different characters. I'm glad you're back to your older more pencil style, it adds a certain edge to your work.
7 Oct 2002	Zachariah Campbell	Loading... (-affixes seal of approval-) I dig it, man. He looks pretty cheesed-off here... all tense in the shoulders, like he's about to explode. Or maybe he's just feeling claustrophobic about the dimensions of the canvas. Heh... a claustrophobic dwarf. There's a concept! Feels a bit like he needs a belt, or some pouches, or something... but then you know how I am... Mr. Superfluous Detail.
18 Jan 2003	Kelli Doyle	Loading... Beefy Monkey! I love the hammers on the ends of his beard-braids. Even without weapons in his paws, he'll club you to death with his BEARD! haaa haaa! So neat, tons of detail. I love it!
