SciFi and Fantasy Art Battle Damage by Maerianne Morrison

Living in a fictional future, this cybernetic fighter is the roman gladiator of it's time. You see, with the passing of time human's sensibilities 'evolved' although their hunger for violence did not. So a solution was offered: robot that could fight. The pros? No one 'technically' gets hurt, they can be as attractive or scantily clad as they want, they don't complain, they fight better then humans, and the population doesn't have to feel guilty or barbaric while being entertained by these fighters. The cons? They weren't counting on the programmed androids to develope a self-preservation instinct.

Here, one of those gladiators holds her damaged arm, preparing for her next fight, hoping to survive it.

I have neither the time nor patience to do that kind of thing, and you do it beautifully. And your explanation (sp?) for this picture sounded straight out of a sci-fi movie to come. you should get in touch with some writers about this one! lol. But seriously, I love the art you do. Keep up your excellent (and not to mention very beautiful) work!
13 Feb 2004	LiaSawyer	Loading... This has got to be the best picture I've seen in a long time. And it DOES sound like it came from a sci-fi movie. Totally kick-butt. I've tried drawing like that but I can't accomplish it. Keep up the awesome work!!!

Loading... this has given me a great idea for a new pic. also, love the detail and the shading is ace. not entirely how robots would develop their own thoughts though. it would hav to be flawed or incorect programming, and i would have thought that when your making something to kill stuff you would pretty careful about that stuff.
