SciFi and Fantasy Art Beowulf IV: The discovery of Aescheres head by Magnus Pharao Hansen

The morning after the feast the Thanes of Hrothgar woke to a bitter surprise, one more of his men, Hrothgars friend and councellor Aeschere, had been taken by a monster at night: Grendel was not the only monster! Beowulf declared that he would lead an expedition to find and punish this second monster and the party followed the monsters tracks to a swamp. Upon the bank of the misty lake they found the head of Aeschere guarded by small seamonsters and hell imps. Clearly the monsters lair was beneath the lake....
