Well, perhaps this is how it all started, perhaps this is how a REAL fairy would look? I mean, man can distort and change the things he sees and remembers quite a lot.. Take mermaids for example, some poor sailors who had been out to sea for a little too long thought they had seen beautiful women splashing around in the ocean, but what they really had seen was sea-cows... In the same way, someone who saw a creature like this flying around, would not have any trouble changing it into a cute little girl with wings, if he WANTed to see it that way... Uhm... Get it? Anyone.....? .... *retreats to her dark little corner*

Hihi.. This fairy is adorable, really. ^_^ But I'm afraid I would probably throw a book towards it if it would fly somewhere near me, because it reminds me about a giantic mosquito. *giggles*

:-) Maja Andersson replies: "Hihi, well, I would probably do that myself... I got inspired to draw this when I found this freaky, gigantic insect lying on the floor. It was dead already, so I didn't need to throw a book on it. It wouldn't have been very nice to have to clean up the mess afterwards if I had done that... ^_^ Thanx!"

Who doesn't want to see cute girls with wings? Seems like an plausible explanation to me. 12

:-) Maja Andersson replies: "Hmm, yeps, but now I'm just starting to wonder what the guys that think they saw a harpy was really looking at... 12"

I bet that could be another interesting painting. 12

:-) Maja Andersson replies: "*tries in vain to get rid of the creepy thought stuck in her head*"

I think its very interesting, the way you though about the whole mermaid fairy thing. LOL I think i've been bitten by those things before... it kinda looks like a mosquito, hmm ibet that would be interesting to say, "I've been bitten by a fairy!!! EEEEEK!!!!"

:-) Maja Andersson replies: "Yes, weird and dangerous thoughts come flying through my head sometimes...not to worry, I think I have myself under control though, most of the time... 12 Oh, and those fairy teeth really DO hurt! 12"

*Weakly pokes it with a stick, then shrieks and dives into a bush, slapping at her hair.*

Holy swiss cheese....that thing is terrifying. Fairies. Eek.

I wonder what Medusa really was 16

17 Maja Andersson replies: "*laughs* Yeah, it makes me wonder... O.o"

YOU ARE A FRICKING GENIUS!!! not many artists take this veiw of fantacy. many of them complain about how it "burdens" the art. but alternate evolution, and human confusion can be great inspiration for such things. the sprights in my imagination are just insects, but outside their exoskeletons is a layer of fatty tissue and skin, that makes them look like vertabrates. this is awsome!
