Maite is a girl that loves making art, looking at art and hopes to make friends around here.
 
 
 
I'm simple really. A down to earth girl from The Netherlands that sometimes needs to get away from real life and engages in reading, MMORPGs and drawing. I spend most of my days as a student, finishing my last year of 'highschool'. Apart from earlier hobbies, I love hanging out with my friends, shopping, music and those kind of things. And I also have the best boyfriend in the world, I love him very much :)
As you'll notice, in my drawings I have certain themes, but I intend to broaden them as I go along. My style mixes between realism and anime/manga. I very often mix styles into my own little style and I enjoy that. For example, I love the big eyes of manga, but into a more realistic face.
I've just purchased a drawing tablet and some art programs, so instead of just pencilled art, I'm advancing to digital art and colouring. With those I also hope to increase my skill and at one point I'd love to be able to do many other things than what I feel are possible now.
I love designing clothes. On my characters you'll often see a creation from my own mind, which I hope you respect being my creations. I may sometimes get my inspiration from things, but please believe me when I say that what I make up, I make up, and any similarities to other things rest on a coincidence.
I do hope to make friends here, so feel free to comment! I don't mind critisism, as long as it's worth something. Just leaving an anonymous message saying my work is crap will not be appreciated. Please keep in mind that I am a beginner. I have a lot to learn and a lot to improve, but I do hope you'll enjoy looking at what I make!


Another thing, I am now a member of the Comment Exchange on Elftown. This means that if you leave me a comment, I shall do you the honour of returning comment(s) back. I can't promise I will do it right away, but as soon as I get the chance (which will usually be quite fast after you comment on me), I will visit your gallery and comment there as well!

Your gallery is great, too, nice and colourful and you really seem to have your style down. I think my favourite is 'Elven Wedding'. x

You've got a nice name too, I've never heard of it, where does it come from?

Goedendag Maite. I like your gallery. I would like to give you only one tip: Don't be afraid to shade. Determine where the light comes from and darken the shadows with dark blue/green type of colours. You can try this without risk of ruining your picture in photoshop by doing it on a separate layer with the opacity set low. It will give your pictures more depth.
