Hello, Mandy! *waves* Long time no see...I’ve added an art gallery now! And I’ve come up with something new for fun: the Offbeat Music Awards! You can nominate any song you want in the categories I made up and even suggest your own categories. Sounds fun, eh?

I totally sympathize with what you’re going through. I double majored in History and Chemistry, and now I’m in law school and learning Chinese. Your shelf looks cool. Time to do some reading . . .

Mandy Burnham replies: "Wow! I’m trying to picture what kind of a job a historian-chemist would do. *giggles* I would love to learn Chinese! What does your little character there mean?"

Well, this historian chemist turned law student is wanting to be a patent lawyer.

It’s a transliteration of my name into Chinese. There are actually two common ways of doing it, though both yield the sound "Ai mei." 爱美 is composed of 爱 which means love or lover and 美 which means beautiful. Thus -- "ai mei" -- "beautiful lover"

I prefer to write it 艾美. 艾 refers to wormwood, which is a pleasant smelling wood when burned in addition to being the source of absinthe. (Also, it’s a whole lot easier to write!) Thus, my name spelled as it is in my smilely signifies "Beautiful sweet smelling plant" or more sinisterly "beautiful source of poisonous liquor."

So a million years ago or so you posted a comment on my page, letting me know you updated your story. I finally got back on, and am going to have to catch up and read what I already read again so I know what’s going on o.O, thanks for giving me the heads up however! I shall let you know the moment I hit the new material.

Hmm... the translations... I see what you mean. I’ll do that next time, thanks for the suggestion!
Just to let you in on a little secret, there are three, count ’em, THREE more Ethan Tamerlin stories in the works. The one I’m working on now has him here in the US by the sea. (That’s all I’m going to reveal for now )
And, if the Keepers of the Literary Limbo Lounge can give me a hand, I’ll hope to have it done soon. Maybe you could put in a good word for me.
