| 16 Oct 2002 | Jon G. 'Bretwalda' Malek | Loading...Amazing! This is, in my opinion, professional quality; the kind you see on book covers. The sketchiness adds a texture to the dragon that makes it enjoyable to look at. The intricacy of its scales is admirable and I love the way his forked tongue is snarling out. Great picture, I'll be looking for it in the mods choice the next few days. Keep it up! John P Manning replies: "Professional quality? I'm glad you think so, but I feel I have a ways to go before I am drawing at the level I'd feel comfortable calling "professional". That being said, your encouragement is appreciated, even though it didn't get Mod's Choice. Ah, well. Can't win them all!" | |
| 16 Oct 2002 | Melissa Desiree Graf | Loading...Eee! It reminds me so much of those pictures you see in those gorgeously illustrated childrens books (which I happen to love, even at the rip old age of 16. You're never too 'old' for childrens books!) I love the scales, how they stand out like that. And although not a huge fan of sketchy-looking colouring, it still looks good! ^_^ *wanders off to the rest of gallery* John P Manning replies: "I'm very flattered that this reminded you of those children's books, which are sadly few and far between these days. You are quite correct: you are never too old for those books. More Elfwood artists should take up the cause and illustrate a few! Thanks for visiting!" | |
| 30 Oct 2002 | Sumbat Jonathan Sarkis | Loading...Oh man... The details... The coloring. This is great! The pose of the dragon is very cool, and the wings look fab. John P Manning replies: "Why, thank-you! I'm glad you like it. I like the pose this dragon's twisted himself into, but methinks I need to work on the coloring technique a bit. In any case, he was fun to draw." | |
| 17 Nov 2002 | Yvonne Marie Honeyball | Loading...OoO! cool dragony I like the pose and the colouring style is cool, the wings have an embosed feel about them which I luv. wicked ~*Y*~ John P Manning replies: "Hey! I thought you said you weren't a dragon-person... or maybe that was someone else... Glad you liked the picture, though. Cheers!" | |

| 1 Apr 2003 | Amanda Rose Embree | Loading...Oh I really must stop linking every fantasy picture I look at to LOTR, its getting quite bothersome to me. But if I must, I must...Green Dragon...reminded me of the tavern in the Shire. Thats it, no more... On to the picture. I love it, completely, the color is amazing, and even in the thumbnail it pops out at you. The detail on the wings and scales are..just...jaw dropping I think. Where do you find your patience to do such intricate detail, and pray tell, will you share? John P Manning replies: "Patience... I'm quite often impatient, unfortunately. As far as this picture goes, I'd work on it for a bit, then leave it and muck about with something else until I was ready to come back to it." | |
| 5 May 2004 | Yvonne Marie Honeyball | Loading...sh... i was drawn to it again... I just couldn't resist. The dragon is set apart from so many others in elfwood as it is such an original pose, your style and the action in the piece make it so irresistable. cor... ~*Y*~ | |
