He is not what I'd call a cute and cuddly little guy, but I'm quite fond of him. After reading about him in one of the Harry Potter books, I had this idea of how a Grindylow should look just pop up like a picture in my mind, so I hurried and sketched him. After I finished the rough draft, I did a search on the net to see how other people might have sketched one. I was surprised to find that there weren’t very many sketches of them at all. I colored him in PhotoShop. My first sketch ever colored with Photo Shop. “Such a cute little Grindylow” *Pokes it* I like his fingers, his belly and his eyes. So what do you think?

Hey, did you know your little critter shows up on this page?: http://www.lenntech.com/water-mythology.htm

I looked but I didn’t see any credit given. I could have just missed it.

:-) Mardi Byrd replies: "HUH? That’s interesting! Thank you Mr. Anon. for calling this to my attention! Hehe...I suppose I should be flattered that he or she used it. 12"

We’re Mythologicist (We study legends and the paranormal) and We’ve heard of grindylows befor the Harry Potter books and Me and Arcana have never heard of one with a unicorn horn it very creative and just so darn cute Arcana wants to adopt it now.

:-) Mardi Byrd replies: "Woot! When I thought up this guy it was based on the grindylows in the Harry Potter books because that was the first time I had heard of them. But after researching them for a better description (to which there aren’t many) I decided to go with what I had in my head and what little I could get from J.K. Rowling’s description. This guy just popped up. The few stories I had found on grindylows were not happy at all, and I would never want to be a child who was snatched by one. My guy isn’t quite so vicious in my mind...a bit more mischievous...and he doesn’t mind becoming someone’s pet...as long as you keep him company, read to him and feed him lots and lots of goldfish! His horns are for show mostly, you know, a scare tactic. However, he can give a nasty bite if he doesn’t like you, but he saves that for predators in the water mostly...and mean little kids who like to catch and torture small creatures. So...feel free to catch one and take him home. 12"
