| 3 Dec 2007 | Anonymous | Loading...A little thing, HP is an english book series, the "Chopper" style of motorcycle is not popular over in Great Britain. It was probably a Triumph Bonneville, Moto Guzzi, Vincent or some other European motorcycle. Mardi Byrd replies: "While you are most likely correct Mr. Anonymous - It would have been nice to if you had written some words about the art work as well. I don't have a magazine with "England’s" style of motorcycles here in my American living room...so coming up with something like that would be a bit difficult for me. (Not impossible and I do see your point, and I do consider origin in my artwork these days) Most of my work here is the first art I’ve ever done. This particular bike was taken from several different bikes in a very nice magazine, which had great pictures, that were used to customize the bike to my liking. It was a challenge in the first place as I do not particularly care for motorcycles...but I did this anyways because I love Serious Black. I was just trying my hand at something that I don't LOVE i.e. the motorcycle to see how well I could draw it. " | |
| 2 Mar 2008 | Hank | Loading...I love the bike. You have caught the essence of what was written in the book. The bike in the movie os a 1966 Triumph T6 Thuderbird. It is true that the English do not appreciate the ’chopper’. However, her in the US, the Triumph was the first chopper ever made-even before Harley Davidson!! There are many stars who rode Triumphs in their films-Marlon Brando, Paul Newman and even the Fonz !!!. Your artistry has brought the bike (and Padfoot too) to life. Hank, Oklahoma Mardi Byrd replies: "Hehe...This is cracking me up! When I drew this...there was no movie, just the books. I truthfully just wanted to draw a motorcycle.
I love Paul Newman. Thanks so much for the info Hank. You rock.

| 5 Apr 2008 | Anon. | Loading...Hi, nice picture of a motorcycle and all, but I’m sure that Sirius would ride a Triumph and not a chopper. Mardi Byrd replies: "It cracks me up how I’m getting comments on the type of bike I’ve drawn. The funny thing is...I don’t recall the book saying anything about the type of motorcycle...but its been so long since I’ve read it...I don’t even recall if I took the time to research the bike style in the book before drawing it. I’m sure they do have choppers in England. Surely a skilled wizard like Sirius Black could come up with an American Chopper if he wanted to. I mean...he’s gone against his family and popular Wizarding Prejudices...why not go as far as buying an American Motorcycle!? Furthermore...is it not possible that he had another...just in case!?" | |
| 5 Apr 2008 | Anon. | Loading...Good grief, now I’ve posted I get to read the other comments!!! Well I never knew the first chopper was a triumph,..... they have just gone down in my high esteem stakes. | |
