Frigga, the goddess of child-birth, marriage and all sorts of other womanly things in Nordic mythology. Contrary to my usual obsession with authenticity, I took some artistic liberties with the outfit, hope you don’t mind.  I’m not really sure what she’s doing - the original idea was to draw her with a spinning wheel, but that turned out to be a bigger challenge than I had anticipated (a big hug for anyone who finds a decent photo of a spinning wheel online)...

Try this: http://www.chytrepleteni.cz/kolovratky.htm
It’s in Czech, but the photos are international 1 (Click on them to fullview.) It says most of those depicted are intended for linen, and most of those found nowadays are from the end of 19th century.
Or try to google "kolovrat".

Good picture anyway!

:-) P. Tiainen replies: "Thanks for the hint, it’ll be useful in future drawings. I’m hugging you in spirit! Sorry I had to clip your comment a little, made some changes with the description 12"

Cloth work is an art all to itself.... very nicely done.

The dager looks a little small....the norse did nothing half size LOL!

Good stuff.... I’m going to go look at your other work.

:-) P. Tiainen replies: "It is a bit small now that you mention it. An ancient Norwegian pocket knife, perhaps 2? Thanks for commenting and look around as much as you please!"

Very neat shadings, I like the light colours, mostly I prefer dark ones but this looks nice, and it fits the mood very much. I also like the way you drew here cape. its really flowing in the wind.

:-) P. Tiainen replies: "Yeah, I was going for sort of an aery atmosphere, hence the light colours 2 Thank you very much!"
