In the olden days, we used to be able to travel freely down this road. Each gate led to another world. I used to visit friends there all the time. That was before the Great Disillusionment when everyone used to believe in such things. So they tore the gates down and told us we didn't believe in such nonsense anymore.

Don't be fooled. If you pass between them at the right time, you can still get through. I've done it.

But beware: what awaits you on the other side is very angry about the broken gates. You may not have time to explain yourself.
