SciFi and Fantasy Art Eulian, Elven Princess by Mark Ivan Cole

This is Eulian, the Elf Princess from my fantasy trilogy. (I know: I got the ear wrong.) She is kinder than her mother, the Queen, and stronger willed. She travels long distances outside the forest. In this picture, she's on her way through the Western Mountains to the desert beyond where she will have to avoid the Carthiss (a Chinese-dragon-like creature with six legs that burrows under the sand and only comes out at night). She's good at it--much to the Queen's consternation, again. Original size: 9x12 in./23x31 cm

26 Jan 2005	John	Loading... My guess is that this is done with colored pencils. As to her neck, maybe she's tensed up ready to fight, good musculature there with the tendons. I also like the highlight on her cheek, it looks like someone had one of those fill-flash or light screens photographers use. Interesting effect.

11 Jun 2006	Emily	Loading... I think this is lovely, as is all your other work haha! But, one tiny thing I've noticed is the shoulders. They seem a bit broad for her petite frame, and I think that may be why everyone is saying the neck looks strange. She has a feminine neck (and waist and everything else), but her shoulders are strangely mannish.... shoulder pads, anyone?
4 Apr 2007	Kim Ellsworth	Loading... It's nice...but here waist and legs are much tinier than the body. You should add more distinctive markings to her face and clothing. Reveal more skin, too.
