Character Illustration. I wanted to experiment a little with environmental shadows in this piece, and try out a new form of shading, on my part.

Akiatha is a shape-shifter, very much akin to werewolves. She is of a feral tribe that embraces a druidic/shamanistic faith and protects their forest from abominations and evil. The skulls of their prey are mounted on stakes that are set on the outskirts of the forest, to warn any who would trespass.

And no, drawing her topless was not an excuse to draw breasts. It is part of her character description.

Holy crap Goldfine...definitely your best yet. Love the lighting too. Her leg kind of stops the eye as it seems a touch less rendered than her chest and stomach, but it's a small thing and I am just picking nits. Nicely done!

You make me want to draw more 2

3 Mark Andrew Goldfine replies: "Wow! Thank you so much, Martin 1 You should draw more. MORE I SAY! hehe, Nice to see you again, Martin 2"

I think the shading was very well done, and the shadows across her face must have been at a very difficult level. Well done.

2 Mark Andrew Goldfine replies: "Thank you, Jenna 2 Yeah, the placemet and execution of the shadows were not an easy task, but then again, I liked the challenge 2"

Great work with the shadows, although I think her knee could do with more detail

2 Mark Andrew Goldfine replies: "Thanks, Linda. Yes, I am thinking about doing some touch ups on this piece."

Quite a beautiful character, her hair and Eyes I love so dearly. Nice linesless art, easy on the eyes.

2 Mark Andrew Goldfine replies: "Thanks again, Daniel 2 Again, I see to many flaws in this to be quite happy with it myself. I should have toned down and perhaps even gone with a different color scheme on her skin. Was under heavy painkiller and High bloodsugar influence when I did this and posted it as well, so when I got back to see it after the reason for the pain was gone, it was... different from what I imagined, hehe. Might re-do it someday."

Interesting mix of good and evil, although i think its not that simple. =) Grats on the Mod’s choice.

And another thing, what does she brush her hair with? I guess it’s artistic licence, but shouldn’t her hair be dreaded? Not that i mind of course.. Also, (sorry, I’ve been told many times that i talk a lot) What does she do with her sword thing when she shape-shifts?

:-) Mark Andrew Goldfine replies: "Thanks, Keana 2 I think that her "people" are into the basics of grooming, to avoid things like fleas and nastyness that comes with it 12 Maybe they make combs from bone, etc? As for the sword thingy, I believe it would hold some properties that her claws and fangs do not possess when fighting certain types of enemies. (I.E: imagine someone attacking a tank with a butter-knife... some tools are just better suited for the job at hand 12 )"
