Usually, when portraying vampires, I have noticed that most people portray them with bared fangs and looking either very regal or down and dirty. I have done my share of that too. With this picture, I went for a more subtle approach. I decided not to have visible fangs or claws or gleaming red eyes, but rather ad softness to the vampire in question, and instead hint at what she is. Most people that have been to my gallery before are familiar with Angelique, since I have posted a few pictures of her here before and most people pick up on the vampire part pretty quick. I love cathedrals and old castles, and I decided to use that as a backdrop for this picture. Lofty old castles may be a cliché for vampire illustrations, but I didn’t really care about it here. I felt it suited the mood. I imagined Angelique retreating to this old place before dawn, a kind of sanctuary, where she could spend the day without fear of the sun or possible assailants. She has had her nightly feeding but been slightly careless, as indicated by the blood stain on her blouse. The statue in the background has a tie in to her story, as she and a group of others spend most nights in pursuit of darker forces, hunting them down. As for the title? Well, I came to think of the story of snow white, in the beginning of it, when her mother pricks her finger and a drop of blood touches the infants snow white skin. The bloodstain on the snow white blouse. My first 100% computer sketched and painted picture.

The only thing that bothered me about this is that on every other pic of Angelique she has makeup running down her face from when she was turned, and it doesn't seem to be present here. Otherwise great pic! I just took the tour and ended here and am sorta wondering how I might contribute to the world of Angelique? Just a thought.

Anyway, I loved this pic even tho I'm not usually a big fan of CG graphics, this conveys emotion which is what art is supposed to do. You have a lot of talent with graphite (my medium of choice) and now are developing some talent with photoshop as well. Loved the eyes and the statues in the background. Also the fabic (her shirt, bra, and coat) are done very well. Good job.

3 Mark Andrew Goldfine replies: "Thank you so much, Chris 2 Always nice to hear from you 2 The whole make-up running from her eyes, was just something I did for one piece. Didn't want it to become a trade mark for her though. Linsner has three tears running from DAWN's eyes as her trademark, I just did it on the other angie pick, because I saw an ad a while ago, where a woman is standing in the rain and her dark make-up starts to run down her face. I just liked the visual 2As for joining the tour, feel free to do so 2 Open invite, mate 2 I will send you the info the other artists have received (IF I can find it), but there is also a lot of visuals to get from the tour as well 2"

I love this pic. have you ever thought of doing like native American styled characters?

1 Mark Andrew Goldfine replies: "Thank you 2 Yes, I have thought about doing Native American styled characters, even done some in the past. I have some ideas rolling around in my head for some new ones as well 2 Always been fascinated by Native American history and culture 2"

Wow! What an incredible piece of work!! She’s very beautiful and her vamps’ style of clothing is awesome… the blood stain on her shirt focus your eye to the entire scene 1

The background as well is very intriguing, the colors are just right and the statue in the corner stand out really well.
I can’t stop wondering if it stands for the battle of good VS evil (when evil wins) or is it a representation for the fallen angels…some say they became the first vampires. An excellent piece!

the contrasts are beautiful. And the dimmed colors. The picture is perfect.
