For CGTalk's "Accelerate" competition, dedicated to the art of Syd Mead.

Its really nothing too deep to talk about, its not some flash widget that relies on the latest in light bending technology or anything...its just a big SpaceShip called Macro Burst ;)

Thank you very much

Well, Marley, this is a SOLID Mod Pick ! Ultra-professional, yet original. Tastefully designed, & conceived with Vision & PASSION - Imagine, suffusing with Warmth, a wide vista picture of Space - THAT does not happen often, space pic’s are usually cold & devoid of any real Human element. THUMBS UP !!!

:-) Marley Mcleay replies: "Y’know that is a wonderful compliment, thank you very much, i’m honoured 1.

take care

A well deserved Mods Marley though not your usual spectrum of colors it is clean edged and has nice depth to the ship. The composition is a little ... confused, with the ship being cropped off at both ends the ship is cutting the image into two parts which stops the eye from moving freely within the piece and even pulls the viewer off the right edge of the image. Each of the elements in the image are really well done, it is just how you chose to place and crop them that is keeping this from being a stronger, more professional illustration. You usually have a better, natural sense of composition. It is still a nice piece though 2 If you have no idea what I am talking about and you want to talk Composition some time, let me know. 12

:-) Marley Mcleay replies: "No, i completely understand those points on composition that you are talking about and you are spot on. They did not go unnoticed, that is for sure 1. I thought about size reduction and everything, but off all places the ship looked best in this position...Alternateviely, this had so many layers shifting about the place, that it was a messy piece in all. It wasn’t as straight forward as my other pieces that is for sure..

Not entirely sure if it was lazyness on my part or not. haha. but thank you very much.. I usually employ "rule of thirds" and 1 to 2 point perspective, sometimes three. I skipped the 3rds one this time round..Though would love a chat about perspective sometime, thank you for taking the time to offer a critique, thats great"
