Hmmm...
Some how or another, I ended up in Japan at Tohoku University, Sendai, doing thermoacoustics research this year. Don't ask how, things like this just happen to me. Anyway, enjoying it greatly and, like normal, I haven't updated in a while. so... lets see, what to write...
The great thing about being a believer in Christ is that you go to the other side of the world and you have brother's and sisters who love you, even though they are in an entirely different culture, and you can't speak eachothere's languages very well. Here are my new friends from the Kawa-Uchi Bible Reading club on campus: http://www.geocities.jp/kawauchibrc/gakusai.html They are fantastic, a blessing, gift from God. And, get this, their names actually have direct meaning in their language. The first night I was there, they went around telling me their names and what they mean. They are gorgeous. Imagine a group of people walking up to you and saying...
"Hi, my name is Waves of Rice" (F - Honami)
"My name is Incredible Grace/Blessing!" (M - Keita)
"And Mine's Early Hope!" (F. - Saki) "Mine's God Provides!" (F. - Erei), "Don't forget me!!! Dove child!" (F-Hatoko)
"Uh, nice to meat you all. My name is... Tim." yeah. Tim. oh well... "Timothy" if you want to jazz it up, I 'spose.
So yeah, aside from hitting my head on everything, this place really rocks. Which reminds me, the cool music of the month is Sufjan. If you want to see a cool youtube, do a search "For the widows in Paradise, for the Fatherless in Ypsilanti" and have your life changed. Or click here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=d4tkiGvV_ek and listen to what he's saying. Alright, Jaa Mataa

Of course, I already put your name into my favourite Elfwood's artists list. Timothy M. Marston replies: "Thanks, I enjoyed looking at your watercolors as well!"
| 20 May 2006 | Lostelf | Loading...Lewis and Macdonald.... some of the best stuff of all time. Awesome to see art originating from those sources. Timothy M. Marston replies: "Yeah, a lot of people have read Lewis, but not a lot have read MacDonald, which is crazy because MacDonald is where Lewis got his inspiration from. Thanks for the comment" | |
| 30 Aug 2006 | Anonymous | Loading...Your artwork is amazing. i really love it. keep on doing this, it would be a sin if you didn't. Timothy M. Marston replies: "Thanks, I'm glad you like it " | |
| 25 Oct 2006 | Phil Woodward | Loading...I'm proud of the fact that a significant number of your pictures were painted at my request. You're brilliant, Tim. Let's connect soon about new album art. | |

| 23 Mar 2007 | David Michael | Loading...About the bet between C.S. Lewis and Tolkien that was mentioned above, they had a bet/challenge that was supposed to stretch both of their writing styles. Lewis was supposed to write a sci-fi story (which he did in a trilogy, beginning with "Out of the Silent Planet") and Tolkien was supposed to write a "time-travel" story. Tolkien's attempt was the long & magical but incomplete poem "The Cottage of the Lost Play" which you can read in the Book of Lost Tales 1. Lewis technically won because he actually finished his story. These are lesser-known works of theirs, but are no means inferior to what they're both famous for.
And I know what you mean about the family of Christ transcending cultures! I've met Christians who were Vietnamese, Japanese, Cambodians, from the Congo, Belarussians, Brits, New Zealanders, etc. - and no matter where they're from or what language they speak, the Holy Spirit really DOES create a special and immediate bond! Keep the faith!
| 17 Oct 2007 | Anonymous | Loading...Timothy, I left a comment on your pic "Sad". but I also wanted to comment on your work as a whole - YOU ARE A GIFT! you exhibit so much passion and life in your work and your presence in Elfwood is greatly refreshing. THANK YOU for everything you have posted here, YOU embody the magic of Elfwood and the fantasy genre. | |
| 23 Jan 2009 | Jay Trygstad | Loading...Dear Timothy,
I understand you own the rights to this play. Is there any chance our church drama group could purchase the rights from you so we could do a production in our church.? Please respond. Hopefully, Rev Jay Trygstad
| 23 Jan 2009 | Jay Trygstad | Loading...Sorry, I forgot to mention the name of the play, The Great Divorce. Also, did you record the production on DVD and if so who would I speak to about getting a copy? Jay Trystad | |
| 27 Jan 2009 | T. Marston | Loading...Jay - my apologies, but I only painted a picture called "The Great Divorce," and have no connection to any play corresponding to the book of the same title. Anyway, got the wrong guy, sorry, but good luck! | |
