A painting I did for our Super Contest. The theme was vampires. Totally handpainted using a mouse. This is 'NOT' a photographic manipulation, created in Adobe.  April 13th 2010 update. I encourage all of you to go to my new YouTube account to see the creation process as it happens. I started to capture my paintings just to dispel any concerns and doubts about my Paintings being Non Photo Manips!...

Yeah, I'm doubting you too, Buddy. Compare his other stuff to 'Vixen Farie' and 'Elven Snow Queen' people. It doesn't take a master sleuth. He can't do a face on his own and NOBODY paints a hand like that with a mouse.

Just for those who might happen by here and see these comments that doubt my abilities, Yes they are indeed my works painted with a mouse. I have no reason to lie...don't make money off of lies or the truth for that matter concerning my art. As for Vixen Farie and Elven Snow Queen...they are not meant to be realistic as some of my other works..and yes Ryon, I can't do a face from my imagination but I sure as heck can paint one when I see it. I can also pencil one. As far as working with oils and that type of medium...well, I working on learning that medium as well. I suppose that when all is said and done, when people think that I didn't really paint the object or picture and it looks too good to be true, then that is the greates compliment and highest honour I can recieve.

By the way Ryon, I see your page is now lost in the woods...wonder why?

The main reason people find it hard to believe this is not a photo manipulation is probably the discrepancy in realism and drawing style between the different subjects/objects in the scene. For instance, the white border on the mirror is highly unrealistic and obviously computer-drawn (and I'm not even mentioning the fact (oh wait, I am :-P) that it's not really a mirror - you can see the background through it instead of a reflection!), while the woman is photo-realistic. There are also some anti-aliasing artifacts in the picture, and there is something wrong with the blood, although I can't put my finger on it.

Conclusion: if you really drew this: congratulations, you're a great artist, and fooled a lot of people, but you should try to add some more interaction between your subject and the other elements in the scene in future pictures. It'll make for a better picture, and help you get rid of people calling it a fake. If, on the other hand, this is a photo manipulation, you should be deeply, deeply ashamed for not telling us.

:-) Mart D. Chandler replies: "Roderick,I thank you for the comment you left on my pic "Blood Lust".I am replying to you to say I do appreciate the constructive way you critiqued my work. When com-mentors like yourself take the time to point out the obvious errors in my work, it makes it more to the point. Most just say it's fake but do not take the time to eplain why they see it as a fake...ie, photo manipulation.I assure you that these are digitally painted models and backgrounds.I work from photographs as a reference...this is evident in the characters in my paintings...however when it comes to the backgrounds, I try like heck to do them from my imagination. This is where I am flawed. Painting something from my head is not my cup of tea at all...I have always publicly admitted this countless times. As well as the fact that I use reference materials whenever I can. Using the computer usually leads the viewer to assume that there are some cheats being used such as taking a photograph and touching it up in a way so to make it look digitally painted. If you were to visit my web site midnight121.com there is a tutorial that shows you step by step how I do these works. Also you can view some of my pencils.Using reference materials versus not using them really shows up in my pencil works. Basically if I can see it, I can paint it. I do not use poser or any digital programs of the like to do my works. I'm certainly not putting anyone down who does use these types of devices in their art so long as they do not pass it off as an original painting. Know what I mean?By the way, my website does contain Adult Nudity so be forewarned there if you decide to visit it.I certainly do appreciate the time you have taken to post that helpful critique. I would like you to make more on others if you get the time and I extend a grateful hand to you. "SHAKE"sincerly,Mart D Chandler"

Are you *sure* this is really done with a mouse? Very skeptical. It's great, don't get me wrong. It just looks a bit too perfect, especially with the hands. :/ Good job anyways.

Mart to those who doubt you I just want them to know that I have seen some really amazing art done in photo shop or adobe using only a mouse. And there are millions of artists the world over that use a photo reference for their art. You’d think people would know that, especially fellow artists. While there are a few mistakes in this work of art there aren’t nearly enough to take away from the beauty of the painting.
