SciFi and Fantasy Art Brown Sparrow by Mart D. Chandler

Finally!!! The anticipated pic of the year has arrived...lol. Courtney Weger Cantrell has allowed me to use her likeness in this pic, 'Brown Sparrow'. This prodject started a while back, several months ago. I admit that it could have been done better, but the more I looked at it, the more I wanted to change, add, and rework. Done completely in Adobe using an optical mouse and reference pictures supplied by Courtney. This pic was hand painted painstakenly... There are several flaws and of course, to the observer including Courtney herself, I'm sure that you will see that the likeness isn't exact, due to makeup and the profile changes different in the photos. Courtney, I hope that this will honour you and give you a smile. You are a good friend, sincerly.

I just keep going back to the wings...they look so soft and touchable! Just perfect. And contrary to what you've said, you did a great job on the likeness. Even Ed said so, and he should know! ;o) Thanks so much for doing my picture, Mart! I'm still flattered and honored. You are an amazing artist! And the eggs are still a cute touch. grin

Seems a trite off. But I love the rest of her body!!! Naturalistic and real, depicting a real understanding of the female anatomy...You've also made a brilliant landscape, the barren-ness of the background contrasts wonderfully with the lushness of the angellic subject. wistful sigh

Chandler replies: "It is a work dedicated to Courtney http://www.elfwood.com/~courtney But It’s been ages since I came back to Elfwood and it seems that she has been gone a while too...We all kind of lost interest after the ERB started policing our galleries and removing our heart felt treasures. And, the fact that the site has grown so much that comments became a joke. Young anonymous visitors slandering the artists...etc. Most of the artists have fantastic works not posted here due to their genre limitations. We can’t complain though, It’s not our site."
