This is a totally different style than what you are used to seeing from me. A study on 'LINE ART'. Let me tell you something, it's not as easy as I thought. Especially using a computer and a mouse!!! Not a straight line can be drawn freehanded...lol. Any way, this was done from a pencil sketch I did at work one day. No photo reference was used as you can certainly tell. I was trying for a more cartoonish style than anything. Inspired by Jeffery Block. 'The master of Cat Girls!!!'

Very special artwork you show us! I love the wonderful light colours of the background and the composition. I hope we will see more in this style in the future, Mart, it's very nice to look at.
Can I ask what she is doing? 2

:-) Mart D. Chandler replies: "Yes you may ask Anneke...lol. She is waving her magical wand thingy...and creating some snow. As if mother nature couldn't do it...lol."

I'm honored that I've inspired a new style for you...I hope to see more of it here. I've already commented on the face (as Courtney has as well) so I won't repeat myself...but just take your time to develop this new style. You've obviously got a firm grasp on how to use the major tools in Photoshop...but now just figure out how to use them to suit this different style. Let me know if you want any more specific advice on what to do. Hug your kitty!

:-) Mart D. Chandler replies: "Thanks Jeff, I just wanted to see if I was interested in another style for a change....and to see if it was faster....It is NOT unfortunately...lol. But, I would like to develope this style a bit more. To see, if I can achieve the absolute dynamic style I'm aiming for. Kinda of a line, comic, realism style. I used to have a graphic novel that had that wonderful style in it. It was unusal and to me quite beautiful artistically. but alas, I feel that I may be too far into the dream world to achieve that style...lol."

This is gorgeous! It's drawn so well! And look at all those details! Holy cats, you've got patience. As usual, you awe me with your work.

:-) Mart D. Chandler replies: "Thank you Anneliese, but patience has nothing to do with it...I have none...lol."

Nice use of colors, you're right about the face but I don't think it distracts too much. You didn't use any filters on this one? I'm going to have to check your private gallery out to find out how you pull this stuff off.

:-) Mart D. Chandler replies: "I totally goofed this one up...wasn't what I was trying for but hey, I tried...lol....I think I shall stick to realism...lol. Hey there is a tutorial on my homepage that shows how I do the realism stuff...but don't go there unless you are not offended by nudity...YOU ALL HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!"

Hey this is lovely Mart, I never saw an update in the forum, for it? I see you couldn't leave the face alone though LOL! When I try to do cartoon style pictures, I also can't stop at a line art face 2 Why wasn't it entered in the Christmas picture contest?

Very different to your usual work, Mart, but equally good. 2 She has an appealing face, and I love her pose. The wand effect is excellent.

good character design..^^ her face looks realistic but the rest of her is line art. nice combination.

:-) Mart D. Chandler replies: "See, I was doing a realistic work at first and then slapped my hand and said no Mart! You were doing a toon...so I never got around to deciding which way to go one way or the other...lol."

Mart, I’m a line artist myself and I can tell you right here right now that I could not imagine in my wildest dreams drawing this in photo shop using nothing but a mouse. But you did an outstanding job and if I could I’d shake your hand. Great work.
