SciFi and Fantasy Art A Song for Evan by Stacie Arellano


	This is a commissioned piece for a baby's room. 'Not too girly, not too scary, the room is blue and yellow' . I was allowed to do any subject I wished. This was a lot of fun. I used microns to ink and copic markers to color. I was also able to use the copic marker air brush attachment. I am very happy with this piece.

The flute should be lower on the mouth, so that you can see the small opening and the lips, as well as part of the bottom lips, since the air is blown across the flute, and not directly into it. Other than those two things, though, I think the picture is astounding, I would have loved to grow up with that in my room.
15 Jan 2005	Anonymous	Loading... Wow, great picture, and that IS a real note. The only problem with it I can see is the thumb on the right hand. It's going the wrong way. With the way it is in the picture, the flute would be supported with the back of the thumb and the nail. The thumb needs to be bending backwards, so the flute is on the pad of the thumb, the same as the fingers.

Blue hair is cool. it looks like he is actually playing the flute. I don't know much about music. i like the outfit. Wish I had something like that in my room when I was a baby, I'd love to grow up with a pic like that.
5 Dec 2005	Stealthypyro	Loading... I would say that this is a very good picture especially for a child. The simplicity suggests calmness, though i prob wouldnt have shown the lips at all-dont think it matters though cos it fits in real well. Great work
5 Dec 2005	Tan Zu Dienle	Loading... Well, this is a cool picture. Anyway, although I did not play the reed (or Chinese flute), I play the Western flute. So from the western flute point of view, the note he is playing is C. Stacie Arellano replies: "haha, that is so cool, I never even thought about what note he'd be playing. amazing!"

19 Oct 2006	Flute player	Loading... The lips are wrong. The bottom lip curls slightly over the teeth to make the air come out faster...Everything else is amazing though, i love the backround fade.
26 May 2007	Anonymous	Loading... your person doesn't seem to be of chinease heritage. Look at his nose. The type of nose is from the northern parts of the mediteranian, or in other words, around italy.Plus, did you ever notice that he doesnt have a chin? please excuse my english if it is wrong.
