"Hope" by Haley Oatway

Done with contour chalk in brown, white and black charcoal. 

Over the past few months my life has been going pretty roughly, and has only rescently started looking brighter.  She is a symbol of this I have created.  In the darkest shadows she still finds the most brilliant highlights.

This being is a creature created by the chaos of life and intertwined with the light that comes with it.  The light and thedark, the joy andthe sorrow, the good and the bad, the chaos and the peace, the horrible and the beautiful.

I created her as a reminder to myself that hopelessness eventually provokes hope, and I think that's something that everyone needs to remember when times get harsh.  Sometimes from the middle of chaos beauty can be found, and that beauty is Hope.
