"The Fenrir Wolf" by Haley Oatway

A creature of Norse Mythology.  The offspring of the Loki, the God of Mischief.  Fenrir is depicted in the legend as a giant wolf with massive fangs, sharp claws and carries his fathers taste for destruction.

According to the myth, the Fenrir frightened the Norse Gods.  After all his intense strength and blood line was the perfect combination for chaos.  From the time he was a pup he was kept in a cage, but as he grew older,  larger and stronger, the Gods knew that the cage would not hold him for long.  So they tried to trick him into chains.  But the massive wolf broke every chain they tested.
Finally, the Gods went to the dwarves, who made a magical ribbon called Gleipnir.
When the ribbon was brought to Fenrir, he knew it must be some sort of trick and would only let them bind him in it if one of the Gods would put their hand in his teeth.
Once the ribbon was in place, Fenrir couldn't break free, and in a paniced rage he bit the God's (Tyr's) hand off.
After he was fully bound, Fenrir was places  in a pit that was covered by a large boulder.

One of my favorite mythological characters.  Every since I first heard his story, Fenrir has always remained special to me, though I don't completely understand as to why.
