On Dragon's Wing

Above the clouds on dragon’s wing
Wind thrashes flesh with fi’ry sting
And space fills with a trepid ring:
The heavens burn for hell’s keen king

Red blinds a blemished realm of ash
Possesséd tail doth whip and thrash
As jagged claws the white fogs hash
With mighty rage old rivals clash

Thick roils of flame lick at the air
Through noxious bursts of light I stare
Acidic swirls at blurred eyes tear
The heated stench too much to bear

Coiled garnet spires cleave dusk’s bed
Through cosmic starry voids I’m led
In such repose the rage is fed
The florid winds; the creature’s bread

Though furled wings beat with tepid slack
My hands clutch tight the roughened back
Sleek graying mists roll back the black
Fine trails of burnt air mark our track

Aloft, sideways the beast’s head cranes
Its neck entwined with bulging veins
Flared nostrils jerk with biting pains
Eyes oyster pools with murd’rous stains

Moon glows on scales of wretchéd blight
Bright bloody hue surrounds this kite
A crimson arrow’s twisted flight
The skies bow down to dragon’s might

Oh, nevermind. I see how I got "Tear(liquid) now.

You mention a substance in the dragon's eye... which naturally leads to the thought of salty liquids.

:-) Adrian H. Wood replies: "Yeah, I see where you are coming from. But all the same... *slaps ya silly* 12"

Oooohhh... wow, that never even occured to me. *bury's face in hands for shame*

You honestly dont' know who robert frost is? Geez, he's like the best modern poet out there. Blank verse, but it's actually GOOD!!! (I mean, when does that happen?) Look up on the internet a poem called: "The road not taken"...or was it "The road less travelled?" I'm pretty sure it's the first one.

Stopping by woods on a snowy evening.

Whose woods these are I think I know
His house is in the village, though
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow

(can't for the life of me remember second stanza)

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
And miles to go before I sleep.
--Robert Frost

That's not as good as the other one though...

:-) Adrian H. Wood replies: "Haha, never mind about the tear!

Now that I think about it this Frost fellow sounds familiar... nice poem though."

Wehe! I like this! I love dragons, i alwaysa wanted to be one1

1 Adrian H. Wood replies: "Anything that flies would be awesome! But yeah, the added bonus of spitting fire would be quite cool indeed. Aaah, the endless possibilities *evil laughter*"

Hmmm, not sure how I missed this one before. It's florid and packed with fantastic imagery--not something that can be speed-read. Your word choice was great and I loved the bit of alliteration you threw in. The rhyme scheme really fit the subject, too.

Summary: fantastic!

1 Adrian H. Wood replies: "Thankies! It was a bit hidden and ignored amongst the other stories, so I thought I'd give it a re-vamp to tempt some new readers, lol. Now if only more people would read 'Wood King's Revolt', sigh...

I'm glad the rhyme scheme works and I'm even more glad someone apart from me can enjoy alliteration wot wot 12"

I love the rhyme and rhythm but is it to much to ask that you stop making dragons evil!

1 Adrian H. Wood replies: "Sorry... I'll write a poem about a happy dragon just for you!"

Hey i just wrote that. i expanded on this on song of shey

:-) Adrian H. Wood replies: "Ok *goes to check it ouy*"

OoOoOo, nice, very nice. I like the rhyme scheme; it fits the poem somehow. Anyway, nice everything in the poem. Oh, and you had some great imagery, and an alliteration! That didn't go unnoticed. ^_~ Well, tell me when WFSB is updated and that Tiger's Eye story. Yes, I am looking forward to them both.

12 Adrian H. Wood replies: "Oh, the joys of likeably laughable lusty little long alliteration! Um... yeah glad you spotted it! As for WFSB and Tiger Eye, I'm being quite lazy at the moment but hopefully I'll get an update up before I leave for Hong Kong in 10 days!"
14 Jun 2005:-) Dominique giladi
Well, that's very nice indeed.
