| Of the dragon's last ever episode... For the lovely Wolf (and gang of course) who has read everything and scooped up 250th comment! As you requested, something not quite so dark and evil about dragons... Is all what it seems though? ;) |

I've seen it all: From beginning to end
And now my wit to the heavens I lend
An oyster eye quakes with a jaded tear
I feel it in my skin, my time is near
Yet pride, not sorrow, fills this dragon's heart
For I've lived more than most and played my part
The many long years have made my bones stiff
But keeper I remain, of all world's myth
Oh, I've witnessed legends, honored great kings
Lived through the wars of loyal underlings
Many grand palaces reaching for the sky
I've seen burnt to the ground in ashen cry
Some army in throngs with all banners raised
Crushed by another, in rage cut and blazed
I fought against, with and for many beasts
Dragons: Grand black, green and red all deceased
I battled vile demons, slit open snakes
Gathered spines of monsters in crimson lakes
Countless terrors I faced, yet none I feared
Arthur's shield I singed, and Merlin's beard
I've crawled from damp tunnels through waterfalls
I've answered alike king and nature's calls
Flown far above many a mountain range
Scorched the guilty, the pitiful and strange
Bound I crusaded Excalibur's rise
Yes! How the chapters flicker in my eyes!
Misty woods I've trekked through in moonlit dawn
Many a bureaucrat played like a pawn
Conversed have I with elves, dwarves and hobbits
Feasted upon foul orcs, trolls and goblins
Argue did I with figures of power
Seen plenty foes at my cold feet cower
I've split the horizon and hashed white cloud
I've stood between fronts both fearful and stout
Love and hate have revived my being
Shared the will of loathing and seeing
And time I've had for some ancient leisure
For in my cave lingers untold treasure
Studded golden crowns atop diamond rings
Ruby necklace, bracelets, trinkets and things
Though thin wear the riches at spirit's core
And things that were gold don't glow anymore
Blunt are my yellowed teeth and dull my claws
Sagging these furled wings and slack my limp jaws
This shell is aging, the days are dreary
Dragons are passing, my eyes are weary
Before I leave though, a last treat maybe
Life, play just one more episode for me
This keeper deserves a last rendition
