A fun little sketch when I was on my Gryphon drawing spree ^_^. And he's not part squirrel as a few people have commented he's a blue and gold macaw mixed with a himalayan cat. Apparently I have more work to do on drawing long haired cats, gomen ne ^_^;

Interesting composition....

Very interesting indeed...

I like the coloring.

The fluffiness of the tail is depicted exceptionally and the bird part is drawn rather well.

Yup.

His coloring is gorgeous! I also adore the way you did his wings... Perhaps it's the way his tail is held against his body that's throwing people off and making them think he's part squirrel.

*Rae drops in and flicks her eartufts back and forth attentively* Mmrrr, yeah, I agree with Mune...then again, I've never drawn a long haired kitty so I can't talk. ^_^ if that made sense..o.O;;;

For some reason he reminds me of some kind of parrot. It looks really good! ^_^

:-) Meagan 'Alana' Tovado replies: "Yeah, he's a blue and gold Macaw ^_^ They're sorta similar to parrots. You'd have to consult with my friend who knows much more about birds than I, SamCat. ^_^"

The only thing that makes that look like a squirrel is that its tail is to close to its butt. U make that come out a little it would be all set....After u said cat, i was like ok i see it now..I like it a lot

(sorry, had to say one more thing) Macaws (and I think all parrots and wood peckers and most owls) have two toes in front, and two in back, not three and one like perching, wading and birds of prey do. Keep up the great work though. He looks good and only us people who know TOO much about animals would ever notice.

Blue and Gold (and all other kinds of Macaws) are parrots. It's definately the way the tail is held that makes it look squirrlish. Cats don't hold their tails up like that when sitting, only when standing, whereas squirrles do. Also the turning down of the tip is a very squirrlish guesture. Try laying it out straight behind him, or better yet, curled up around his toes (you can even curl it to the 'back' if you want us to be able to see his feet) You might also keep in mind that Macaw's especially have much heavier bills, so you might want to go a bit larger on that if you try the picture again. Other than that, it's REALLY beautiful. I like the colors and the wings lok good. His toes are just too cute!

very cute, i really like the bird part the best. You did do a good job though at putting the two parts together though.
