I hate to be a pessimist, but I think it looks more like a coyote. I could be wrong, but somewhere, I heard that wolves have no brown in their coloring.

Gah, I love this one. I'm writing a story with doggy sort of characters too and frankly their paws could really do much delicate work. I think, personally, that the yellowish grasslands could use a bit more color variation like adding more brown, gray etc to make more... interesting, eye-catching, though that's just my opinion.
