If you have some spare disk space check out Artrage 2. Artrage 2 does the natural media simulation stuff too and for a small amount you get layers. Looks like you have not tried the natural media brushes like the oils or pastels. I have the corel essentials but only on the Mac. I wonder what directories the app is opening?
