This began as one of the random sketches that just keep evolving. I started wanting to draw a Grecian statue type face and then went a little rampent from there. Anyway, little sketch grew into a big body /primary color/lighting/reflection study. All I really knew is that I wanted to make the elf lady dark blue. The original is over 3000 pixels wide, and unfortunatly the jpeg reduction really chewed it up pretty badly (especially around the face), so you'll have to forgive me for that. I repaired the damage as much as I could on the small file. This is a pencil sketch colored in Photoshop. Hopefully it proves I'm getting a little better at CG work.

An odalisque! Complete with the mindbending spinal anatomy that they always seem to have. I'd could criticise the bend of her back, but frankly, it's practically traditional for this genre of art, and it mostly works. I think her hips might be a little narrow, but that may just be my taste for broad-hipped women. The gold on her foot is a nice touch - it implies that she doesn't walk -anywhere-. Also, I'm in love with this because it's crimson and blue, and you've hit two of my favorite colors.

She kinda reminds me of one of the Hindu gods.

I agree with someone above, Aric about the hindi gods thing. When i first saw it i thought it was Indian, what with all the body jewellery and the curtains and the colourful room, well red and blue. Or even some Persian one, sorry my history is kinda bad at the moment so i dunno which gods and godesses belong where. But anyways this is an awesome piece and here again u captured something of a foreign culture. i think its India.
