Done in collaboration with Anna Känkänen. check out her gallery here (N.B if you don't appreciate the beauty of the elven/human form you are hereby cautioned) original sketch done by Anna. background and colouring by me. Anna gave me a colour scheme after i already had started colouring. So this became Danayala's evil twin Alayana. She is calling the night stars to abandon the skies and adorn her dress without caring about the consequences. coloured in PSP 6 w00t. First Mod's choice on 22nd of july 2004. and yay Anna got a MC for it too (and so she should) i wanted to draw this picture in this colouring as well because of a story from the histories of Illusia: Quest for the Eternals, an online game i play.
an excerpt from the history of the Elvar and the Nuitel:
'Twas many eons past, when the Chosen races still lived in peace aside one another, that the great sin of the Elvar took fruit. We Elvar lived simply, then, in thatched hovels of grass and hide and mud; the golden city of Eldor was still but a sparkling mote dancing amongst the dreams of her architects, not yet the mighty tribute she was meant to be. Twin girls were born to our King, fragile jewels that would hold the destinies of our people within their cherubic hands.
The first was named Adorianna, 'most beloved', for she was truly the embodiment of all that is loved in the Elvar. With hair of honey-wheat and eyes bright and shining with the gentle green of the southern seas, the babe easily captured the hearts of all who beheld her. The second was named Ealasianne, 'touched by the gods', for she was something unlike any we'd seen before. Her skin was pale, almost translucent; her hair, the sheen of polished silver. She gazed upon us with eyes clear as ice - and, we would later learn, just as piercingly cold.
Oh fortune! Princesses of the Sky, they were - the avatars of Andar the Sun, and Rhea the Moon; in our arrogance we saw such a sign that the Elvar were, finally, to be placed above all among the Chosen. No more would we be second to the V'lalek in the eyes of the Creators! The Great City of Eldor was begun, in tribute to our bright future! Illusians far and wide travelled to our kingdom, bringing in an age of prosperity and growth we'd never before seen. As the years grew long we discovered that if, indeed, the twins were gifts from the gods then the gods held a horrific sense of humor.
Where Adorianna radiated the warmth and happiness of a summer morn, Ealasianne was a child of winter - aloof, withdrawn, unpredictable and cold to all she met. Owing to her pallid coloring Ealasianne avoided the day, cringing under the harsh light of Andar's rays. She became a child of night, of darkness - fitting, perhaps, as her nature seemed anathema to the Elvar way.'
