Raoul Meuldijk

Raoul is trying to draw stuff.

By another random event of evolution I was born, and have been fit enough to still be around to write some stuff.
I live in Wageningen in The Netherlands and work in the field of animal genetics at the university.
I'm involved in tabletop and live fantasy role-playing. From there, it's a small step to writing :-)

My inspiration comes from writers such as Arthur Clarke, Douglas Adams, Iain Banks, Carolyn Cherryh and Isabel Hoving.

Latest addition: For External Use Only, February 2007.

Lately I've been trying to learn to draw comics. My World of Warcraft comics can be found here:

Ooooh!!! Alchemical experiment? How exciting. Is it exciting? or just like 'hum-de-dum, more alchemical experiments today...' ? Man, I might have to actually read some of your stuff now, instead of hovering listlessly on your main page. What would you like me to start with?

50 Raoul Meuldijk replies: "  well, it involved constructing this transparent vial with an energy capacitor, and then filling it with raw magic, so my body would be sped up and hurled through the magic barrier that enclosed our village. However, the picture was taken a moment after I had filled the vial with whisky, which sped my body up and hurled me onto the magic barrier, which quite hurt. Turned out I needed a colleague's barrier-weakness-detector and a witch's dematerializing robe.
What makes my main page more interesting than the stories that it keeps you there?
I would like you to start with whatever of the stories that are outlined in my bio, appeal to you."

Is that a raincoat you wear? Or is it some strange ritualistic killing robe? No offence intended.. .... gees I'm tactless.

:-) Raoul Meuldijk replies: "Your sense of self-insight is impeccable. It is an official Yellow Order Monks robe of the Demsterkloof monastery. The Yellow Order are the more practical people compared to the always-babbling and meditating White Order, as is made clear by the toolbelt and the painful look on my face after a failed alchemical experiment."

Either whiskey equates to raw magic, or you made a very silly mistake.

:-) Raoul Meuldijk replies: "Indeed that was the moment that, contrary to popular belief, I found out that whisky is not raw magic."

Thank you for commenting at my gallery! And I like your writings a lot. I have no critiques to give that haven't already been given, it would seem. ^__^ Your scifi stories are good, but I find the silly ones like "Horse and Carrot" all too amusing.
Greetings from a half-Dutchie! 1

:-) Raoul Meuldijk replies: "And thank you for the return visit! Always good to hear you enjoyed my site. Dankjewel!"
