If you have read the amazing books by Robert Jordan, the Wheel of Time series, you should be able to recognize these three guys (I hope... XD). This is my interpretation of the main heroes of the story: Matrim Cauthon with his extraordinary luck, Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, and Perrin Aybara, whose connection with wolves is a special ability he's got.

I didn't get them 100 % the way I see them when I read the books, but it's close enough. This picture is made with average pencils, 3H - B, and then I fixed a few things in the GIMP and added a simple layer of colours and a frame. I'm not sure whether I prefer this coloured version, or the pure pencil version...

Drawn December 31th, 2008, and coloured January 1th, 2009 :)

i’ve read these books!! (well, i’m only on the 8th so far 10) and this is the first fanart i’ve seen! Rand is amazing (esp his tunic), Perrin looks older than i imagined here but i like the curliness! and mat’s kinda mischevious smile there is soo characteristic =)

:-) Michelle Tolo replies: "Thank you!
There’s a lot of great WoT-fanart out there, it’s just to search around for it 12.
I’m currently on the 9th book myself, and I love everything I’ve read so far!
And about Perrin’s age: I think it is the beard that makes him look older. It’s hard to look young when you’ve got a full beard like him!"

awesome.........you really captured mat----............lovely

:-) Michelle Tolo replies: "Well thanks!
I think Mat is the one who is easiest to draw; it’s just to add that characteristic smirk he’s got, and pretty much every WoT-fan will instantly know who it is 1."

have you tried drawing lan? 12 heh becos this is really good 1

:-) Michelle Tolo replies: "I want to draw all of the important characters, I’m just waiting for a day when I have loads of time and the right inspiration 2. I think my next picture will include Egwene, Nynaeve and Elayne, but we’ll see; I might just as well have a go on Lan and Moraine. Glad you like what I’ve done so far, at least!"

even better in colours - i love the red jerkin!

:-) Michelle Tolo replies: "I agree with you 2. Rand use to wear red coats almost all the time."

While I tend to view them as somewhat older, I think they are perfect the way they are right here.

The drawing is hencreforth officially a favorite of mine. DAYUM!

:-) Michelle Tolo replies: "Yay, thanks a lot! 3"

Oh crap, forgot to say that I viewed Mat with a broader brimmed hat, and a thicker scarf. Not that it really matters though.

:-) Michelle Tolo replies: "That’s actually how I see it as well; the hat just ended up like that because I can’t really draw hats properly, and the scarf --- well, I didn’t think of it until I’d finished the drawing (I doubt that scarf would hide the whole scar...). Thank you for pointing it out! 2"

Wow very nice they are visually dinamic18

:-) Michelle Tolo replies: "Thanks! I tried to make them look alive, and not like some kind of dead statues, hehe 12."

I read the first one and you did a GREAT job. I just never saw Perrin with a beard...

:-) Michelle Tolo replies: "Thanks! Perrin doesn’t get a beard until later, in book 3 or so, I think. I found it hard to imagine in the beginning, but now I can’t think of him any other way 1."

This is one of the best pictures of the trio I’ve seen. I think Mat’s expression is all too characteristic 12 and Perrin’s eyes are just how I pictured them. Nice! =)

:-) Michelle Tolo replies: "Thank you! The good thing about the WoT characters, is that all of them has a special personality or distinguished trait that makes them quite easy to illustrate 2."
