Yes Randall, you're right. Foreshortening is extremely difficult to get right without a reference. I can copy a photograph exactly no matter what it is but for example, the right leg on "Tree Hugger" just isn't right. I couldn't find a photo reference for that exact pose so I made it up--you can probably tell; in the thigh area especially.

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my page, but you shouldn't totally rely on pictures for poses, though you do good with it. Try using an artist't wooden model doll, or even a Barbie doll if you have to stoop as low as me. It makes your mind work a little harder, but if you do it enough, you won't need a crutch at all. I'd like to see the stories behind some of your characters too, they're really interesting.

Great gallery mike! Can't wait till you add more. Like maybe that old self portrait, or that cool fantasy world map you did! A lot of your artwork has an emotionally intense, classic feeling to it, and I agree that you could definitely publish your own comic! F.Y.I., I and Mike are next door neighbors, and we've been friends since 10th grade in high school! Mike is a great artist and great guy.

Hi thanks for visiting my gallery. hmm..barbie doll....never thought of that..wooden doll works..or do like i do...stand in front of mirror and take a screen shot for your brain...course i usually have to keep running back to mirror..since brain doesn' t work too well...lol..nice gallery..will be back for an update...would like to see more of your work.
