| 11 Feb 2004 | Haley Rose Snow | Loading...That's really cool. I've never been able to work with sculpting that much, so works like this really amaze me most of the time. I like how realistic her body is. *first comment dance* Maya R. Hirschman replies: "Thanks for the comment ! I am very, VERY proud of Faye. She is far and away the best piece of sculpture I've ever made." | |

Hirschman replies: "I know, so many people are afraid of things like nipples and pubic hair. It just adds to the naturalism." | |
| 23 Mar 2004 | Gregory P. Gibbons | Loading...Well done- she's a treat to look at, so well sculpted, and I love the relaxed posture, and subtle coloration in her skin... well done, indeed! Maya R. Hirschman replies: "Thank you so much ! My mom didn't want me to paint her at first, but now she agrees with you. " | |
| 29 Mar 2004 | Zyandra | Loading...Wow, she looks so real like she'll wink at you if you stare at her too long. I love the colouring and the facil expression really tickles me Maya R. Hirschman replies: "Thanks much, doll. Faye really does have a secret life of her own, I believe." | |
| 31 Mar 2004 | Maja Arian Carter | Loading...I wish I had even the slightest ability to make a sculpture that looked as good as my drawings... this is excellent. The last piece in clay I did was a curled dragon.. can you give me any tips for making figuers out of clay? Maya R. Hirschman replies: "I have only just started working in clay this past year. For this piece I created a wire armature and built up her torso and head a bit with aluminum foil to save on clay. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. It never hurts to try." | |
| 13 Apr 2004 | Elizabeth Byron | Loading...this is going to sound wierd, but he boobs are quite realistic! the rest of her is as well. Very good! oh, i wish I'd thought of having a foil/wire frame when I made sculptures, I wouldn't have run out of clay so quick Maya R. Hirschman replies: "It doesn't sound weird at all. She was meant to have a realistic body. I love the figure and am not afraid of natural details." | |
| 14 Apr 2004 | Zachariah Campbell | Loading...Wow. Has it been so long since I was last here that I missed this transition to 3D work? I'm impressed! It's neat how realistic she is, though I've found that working with clay tends to bring that out. It's like we have a more intuitive sense with natural forms we identify, than with abstract 2-D icons. I'm really impressed with that skin tone! It's frighteningly real. Who did you skin to get it? Maya R. Hirschman replies: "How did I miss your comment? Anyway, I am VERY proud of her skin tones. It came out better than I'd hoped. I applied lots of dilute layers to make a kind of glaze, in case you're interested. Thanks for leaving more kind words, Zachariah." | |
| 17 May 2004 | Oliver Jöhnk | Loading...It's obvious that it's been too long since my last visit. This work is awesome. Actually I think it's more difficult to sculpt a character without clothes than with. With clothing you're able to say it's not an enormous backside, but you're able to say it's only the clothing. But you show a great piece without any possibility to use such excuses and more important a piece that doesn't need them, too. Great work! Maya R. Hirschman replies: "I don't often sculpt clothing, so I wouldn't know. I would imagine it's the other way around, though. *laugh* Thanks so much for the compliments, Oliver, I appreciate it." | |
| 6 Jul 2004 | Nathan Neil Phillips | Loading...I have something similar that I made, but I must say that your faerie is a lot better than mine. I'm awe of how you made those toes and the natural look of the skin tone. Maya R. Hirschman replies: "Is it wrong for the artist to say they're in awe, too? I still can't figure out how I did those toes - they blow my mind ! Thanks for the comment." | |
