| 28 Aug 2002 | Vernese | Loading...Yay! Graelynia on horseback! Now if only Graely would clean up her horse's poo when they ride through DH!! Such a good picture though and it is great to see what she looks like other than having to imagine it going on her desc. Annnnyways, beautiful! Now I must look at other pics. *bounce* Maya R. Hirschman replies: "Yay, it's a Vernese ! I don't know anything about Graelynia's horse's poop. I'll leave that up to her." | |
| 18 Sep 2002 | Jenn Chasteen | Loading...Wow! That horse is amazing! You used WATERCOLOR for this?! HOLY ISH! That's just so incredible. You're now on my list of artists to kill and rob of their talent! LOL! Seriously, this is awesome! Maya R. Hirschman replies: "*laugh* Thank you. Please don't kill me.I did use watercolour. I would be more thrilled if I'd used a heavy paint like acrylic or oil, but I lack the skills for those. " | |

Hirschman replies: "Thanks ! Of course, technically, this isn't a recent piece... but it's definitely one of my best. " | |
| 28 Oct 2002 | Johan Bergström | Loading...Hut-diggedi! Good job (getting a bit tiresome saying that now ) I wish I could draw horses. =( The sword is great. The angle of it enhances the image, giving many interessting lines in it. The horizon, the sword, the girls direction, the horses direction and so on. Interessting. Maya R. Hirschman replies: "Another great comment, Johan, thanks. Everything about it, the lines, the directional movement, the sloping of the valley... it's all indicative of the mood of the character. I worked this one out in roughs (something I rarely do) before deciding on how it should look, and I'm very satisfied with the end result." | |

| 18 Feb 2003 | Ashleigh Ellis ~Lenalis | Loading...It deserved to win that kind of recognition =) At first when I saw it, the little dry tufts of grass at the horse's hooves struck me as photo manipulation, but alas tis not the case! She does look to be in a state of worry, but she and her steed seem to be prepared for what's ahead, and shall strive to continue... This is very well done. I...have an irrational fear of painting too *nods* Mainly because I don't like leaving my comfort zone of pencil art to learn something new *snicker* But it's always fun to take a change of pace in mediums, and you need to retreat to your cottage more often and make many, many more paintings. *cheers* -Lenalis Maya R. Hirschman replies: "I think, Lenalis, that you have just given me one of the finest compliments I have had. Thank you very much for your kind words of encouragement.Sadly, being at my cottage does not pay my rent, and the art market is a difficult fortune cookie to crack, but I hope, eventually, to be able to do just that... and make many, many more paintings. *smile*" | |

| 14 Oct 2003 | Vilhelmina Benedikt | Loading...This is truly awesome, so realistic, yet has it got a fantasy-like spirit all over it. I like it. Maya R. Hirschman replies: "That was the idea. I like to base my fantasy in reality - not all the time, but mostly. Thanks for the comment." | |
