I really like how you've done the tail - that really IS a cross between a eagle and lion tail, that there. And wonderful shading on a black character, the hardest of subjects to shade properly.
Keep drawing! | |

Love the texture, though. Glossy-ness will rule xD.

| 23 Jul 2005 | Lindsey | Loading...Yes, yes...Very glossy and sleek. Wonderful shading all over.
I commend you on your wings. Spectacular placement.
And for a bit of constructive criticism: Since you put a lot of strength and power into the front half of your creature, I felt that the lion half appeared dimunitive. Next time, remember the all of the raw muscle that comprises a lion...Think of the stalking...stalking...POUNCE! Like a spring...And consider the bulk of muscle mass involved in the action. What I find really helps me is watching videos of animals in slow motion. It really gives you a wonderful idea of the anatomy, watching all the muscles moving underneath the skin.
That is my biggest gripe about all the digital work done in the movies and such. It feels to me that, although all the muscles are in place, there is always something off in how they MOVE.
So keep in mind how the different component animals of your creatures live, and watch them putting their survival skills into action. (I don't mean take a trip into the wild to do so...But hey, if you can afford it, why not?!) Animal Planet on cable television is wonderful for things such as these. But of course, the best thing one can do is practice, practice, practice!
Wonderful, wonderful!

| 23 Jan 2006 | Lady Blue | Loading...Exceptional work. The hindquarters (leonine end) should be more muscular. The gryph's eagle leg that it is standing on, gives the impression that it's larger than the other. Besides that, your artwork is stellar. Please continue to grace us with the talent that you are blessed to have. ) | |
