It occured to me that all those big mosterous dragons of fantasy, like Smaug and such, can't all have started out with huge hoards of treasure. They must have started somewhere, I thought. So I went for a walk in the woods to look for a small dragon and this is what I found.

He doesn't have a name yet, on account of him not being big enough to terrorize peasant villages and such, but he's working up to it. And he's well on his way to having his very own mountainous hoard of treasure, someday...

In learning to use Photoshop and my Wacom, I think this guy is, so far, my least bad work.

Mechanical pencil and ink, colored in Photoshop w/Wacom.

That is absolutely WONDERFUL! I love the concept that inspired the work - and you are absolutely correct. We must all start somewhere, and if hoarding is your thing, a few coins, a chain, and a ring is a very good start! Excellent picture, I wish I had a poster of it to hang on my wall. (Or better yet, a framed print!) Thank you for sharing your art!

And I thought dragons INHEIRITED their hoards of treasure! Thanks for clarifying the point.

Do they ever visit Wall Street?

Ok, ok, I'll admit he is super-fantastically-way-mega-swell. I'll admit it already. But Misti, I'm really gonna need that ring back soon. Yeah, he stole it fair and square but c'mon...who does he think he is?!? Fine. Keep it. Be that way. Like I really need him mad at.

22 Misti Hope Wudtke replies: "Gosh, super fantastically way mega swell? YOU REALLY THINK SO?! *clutches handkerchif* So glad you likes! And that...that's YOUR ring? I had no idea; I'm so sorry! One second...*yells* Archimedes! Archimedes you get back here right this minute!..."

An excellent pict. i love the perspective of the wings, very well done. There is a lot of detail here, but you keep the dragon from being lost and maintain him as the focus. I love the color and the composition is excellent.
