If you ever get a chance to buy/beg/borrow/steal some music by the German band Estampie (better known in the states, I think, for their work under the name Qntal), do so.  They're fantastic.  In particular, they do a breathtaking rendition of the old Latin song Stella Splendens.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that the song inspired this painting (in fact, the song inspired a completely different painting, one that, unfortunately, I haven't painted yet), but it seemed like a good title for this painting when I finished it.
