It's wings seemed small and insignificant against the seemingly endless loops and twists of it serpentine body.  There was a sorrow in its gaze, the sorrow of one who had flown, but is now forever grounded.

I don't know where this idea came from.  The asian dragons seem like they wouldn't be able to actually lift off, and i guess i thought of how tragic it would be to be able to fly in your youth, but then be cursed to grow so large that your wings would no longer lift you...
