Took me about 15 minutes to write late at night. Inspired by my best friend's story. It involves 'The Rules And Protocol Of Civilized Living' or something close to that. Basically every fairy tale you've ever heard.

Now, Pebble, I know you don’t like to practice, but you must. ‘Tis the only way you’ll grow up to be a big boulder like your father.

Pebble! You know better than to talk back to me that way! That is no way for a proper rock to act. No child bearing the fine Granite name shall disobey the Rules like that. Now, be a good little stone and squash this ant.

What was that dear? Pish posh! I’ll have no silly excuse that you cannot move! Just roll down the embankment a bit. Quickly now! He’ll not stand still.

Good job, dear! He’ll not be storing food for cold times. A regular chip off the old block, if I do say so.

Speak up, child. One cannot be heard well when face down.

People, dearest? Oh, I think they are a bit out of your league yet. When you become a big boulder like your father, then you will be able to flatten all sorts of creatures. Why, just the other day, your father crushed an entire wagon! But you must practice. Moving targets are much harder to squish.

Yes, yes. You may roll along now. Now, I don’t want you taking part in any of this foolish avalanche business. You are much too young to be taking part in those. It’ll stunt your growth. And by Marble’s strength, no mudslides! Do you here me, young stone?!

Yay! I have first comment! At least, I think I do... Anyways, this is very interesting. I don't know if I would ever think up something like this. It's actually very funny. It's only here for comic relief. DEFINITELY the product of a late night!

What a nice story! I can really imagine how that little pebble is rolling about when he is finally finished with his practice and doing.... doing whatever little pebbles do in there free time. That would be a sight!

Hmm, a school for young noble pebbles. 12
I wonder whether there are also flat little stones and whether those are taught 'jumping' on the water when tossed. 2
It's a cute piece. I don't think many people have tried treating stones and rocks like living creatures, in their writings. 2

:-) Michelle Krantz replies: "haha! Never thought of that!"
