Also, I love the portrayal of the sphinx. She looks so effortlessly proud and arrogant almost. The positioning of her wings and legs is plausible, so kudos again. Lovely work. Keep it up. xxx | |
| 4 Jun 2006 | Mozdoc | Loading...It has been a very, very long time since I've felt the desire or compulsion to add my comment to a piece of artwork here on Elfwood. That ended tonight though when I laid my eyes upon this piece.
First and foremost, its that of the legendary Sphinx, something which I'm sure has been drawn plenty here in Elfwood, but something about the way you've drawn it just sets it apart, that aspect being that you've depicted the Sphinx as sort of a 'taur form of sorts and giving it human arms and hands, whereas legend describes it as a human headed lion with wings. Most impressive out of the box imagination I have to say!
Second, your extreme level of detail. My god those wings are striking, the anatomy of the lion is very well done, and the anatomy of the human male figure standing before her are very nice indeed. The surrounding environment also brings out your attention to detail, the faces in the wall, the chipped stonework, the brambles and vines, the ruined pillars strewn about. All of just makes you feel like you were there watching the events transpire.
Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing it with us.
