Just playing around I guess. Someone somewhere on Elfwood said something about how few red mermaids there are, so I was inspired to draw one.

Shortage of red mermaids?Hm...If so i shall do one soon..I love the shine you've given her tail another thing i tend to forget to to on my mermaids..Nice moss like outfit too..Very natural

:-) Lily Shu replies: "red mermaids are a cool concept arent' they? another elfwood artist had an interesting theory as to why she's red..."

Her long sinuous shiny tail is great! I agree the moss is a cool idea! Her fishy webbed hands are a nice touch.

:-) Lily Shu replies: "moss? guess my scanner didn't pick it up right... well. it used to be coppery netting but I guess moss is cool too"

I remember this picture. Cool background and working with the shading. The scales actually look like there's a sun shining on them, and creating a shadow. Keep up the good work.

:-) Lily Shu replies: "AHA! i found you!... heh..i guess you found me too since your comment is here.. did you see anything you haven't seen before? you named a bunch of the pics on here anyhow."

Holy something. How long did those scales take? (It'd take me three years, is why I ask. Heh.) I love the highlighting, the netting/moss idea; either way, it makes sense - lost fisherman's net or some such thing. Also like how her expression isn't completely human, how the end of the tail is like anenome fronds, that her tail isn't too short, and the translucent webbing on the hands. The armband's awesome, too. > Yep, I like it.

:-) Lily Shu replies: "wow thanks ^_^ ..to answer your question, i did the scales mostly after standardized testing... so i had lots of free time. altogether i dont' think they took more than an hour.."

the finlike thing that seems to grow from her head is a good touch, and i like the way her eyes are comepletely one color, giving a fishy feel. I absolutely love the webbed fingers and her hair, you caught the water scene perfectly, and the transparent tail is awesome! the scales actually, are awesom too, since i noticed you made the raise up off ehr tail, instead of making her tail smooth, as most people do.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the tail and hair. Infact, I like everything about her! Well, almost everything. My only criticism is that the face, somehow, looks a little oldish. Other wise, marvelous!

Wow. This is a gorgeoud pic. She looks like how I picture mermaids... One criticism though, her tail looks too long. But it may just be me.
