Moses Michael McDermott

I am a 16 year-old junior at Attleboro High School in Massachusetts. I have had no formal (any really) art training, and have done my versions of art since I was 10. I've always loved fantasy art because of the freedom with which it lets you create. I do all manner of fantasy subjects, but my favorites are faeries and demons. They are both great things to draw if you have no ideas what you're going to do. Either can be just about anything in my opinion, which is why they're both so versatile. I never seem to have much money, so I do my pieces with whatever I currently have available. Right now I sketch in mechanical pencil, watercolor other that, add prismacolor colored pencil, ink the outlines, and touch the picture up with anything lying around.
My influences include: Tony diTerlizzi, Brian Froud, Clive Barker, Wayne Douglas Barlowe, Heironymus Bosch, and Salvadore Dali. I am a huge fan of Clive Barker's novels, short stories, movies, and paintings, and the music of Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Collective Soul, and of course They Might be Giants.
I intend to make a career of my artwork (duh). Though I'm not sure exactly what field... What I do know is that ever since I was a little kid I've always loved books, and always wanted to do one of my own. I'd love to be a book illustrator and I'd delight in writing a children's book or something to that effect. Clive Barker's book The Thief of Always interested me greatly and I would be very interested in doing something like that.
Right now I've gotten a position doing all the artwork for www.planescape.com the Unofficial Planescape Webpage. It's really great doing the artwork for the site, and it let's me study the artwork of Tony diTerlizzi and attempt my own renditions of subjects he's already done... so it's a great challenge.
Now that I've rattled my bone-box on about myself (one of my favorite topics) look at my pictures and comment, I love comments. Ta-ta dears...
