SciFi and Fantasy Art Furry Queen of Wands 5x7, acrylic on board by Brenda Mousseau

I've started a new, 'furry' japanese tarot set. This card represents the Queen of Wands - if you're familiar with tarot and Japanese symbolism, fans is a nice way to portray the wands suit. This bun is dressed like an old-fashioned edo style courtesan, and the painting is based on an ukiyoe. The background and other touches are pure metallic gold paint, which I use a lot in my illustrations to give depth and texture.

Ok this sounds VERY stupid but I saw painted shadows of bunnies in Watership down (When you hear the song Bright eyes) who were just the same as the one on the vase. I must be nuts :$ Anyway, fantastic art! Keep up the great work Brenda Mousseau replies: "The lamp was inspired by an ukiyoe print by Utamaro (Japanese woodblock print from the edo era), so it's likely that the animators for watership down may have been inspired by the same print - that's very cool, I'll have to check it out!"
20 Jan 2005		Loading... I love her clothes... ...You can switch styles so easily, I just saw the ...One with the Japenese geisha-lady sitting with her dragon thinger!! And it was gorgeous! And now I come to this one which is less realistic but just as beautiful! I LOVE HER CLOTHES! Said that already.
