well, if you really want explainations.... my cousin served in the iraq war, and it really screwed him up in the head. they are REALLY meant to be the spirits of those who lost their lives, portrayed in a psycho-physical setting. they represent the latent feelings of fear and sadness in us all. they are the ones we lost, and the ones who have lost their own.

its really a shame about my cousin tho. he left kindof... a childish teenager type, and got shipped directly to iraq, and... got involved in active combat, he killed lots of people. it really makes you mature fast. hes kindof sad and quiet now days.
