Sometimes with fairies you get the feeling that they're really just humans who happened to get a pair of fake wings stuck to their backs - they don't really seem comfortable with it - but your fairies here don't display that feeling at all! They look very natural. Not to mention they're both beautiful, as well, albeit in different ways - he's more of a darker toned down warm beauty and she's bright and explosive - but that just makes the drawing look more interesting. However, they both share a common characteristic, being that they have lovely face profiles - you seem to know just where to draw the lines to make it look smooth and 'real', so to speak. I'm also quite fond of her hair and that the highlights in it reflects the pattern on her wings. Melissa D. Saunders replies: "Wow thanks! I do have fun when I'm drawing faeries...I always try to reference wings from real butterflies and incorperate those patterns elsewhere in the body if I can. I'm actually going to start working on more male faeries too, since they are so rare in the world of fantasy art. " | |
