Medusa on a wooden throne, sketched, inked, photocopied and colored in colored pencil. She's wearing a medieval bodice, I know already, it was on purpose so don't e-mail me about it if your a history buff. Reference used, several different photos for the body pose, that's about it.

*first comment dance* I saw your message about updating at the Garden and.. Oh Wow. This one is my favorite, absolutely. Colors are perfect. (forgive me as I'm not very good at giving compliments) ... great work ^^

:-) Werner Mueck replies: "Thank you. I'm not sure what the time delay is between the gallery being posted and the mod's choice pickings. When I posted at the Garden I didn't know about the mod's choice."

I like this immensely. Especially the bold comic-style shading coupled with those bright colors (Prisma markers?). You know, in the Renaissance and so on and so forth it was very common to put mythical characters in contemporary costume, so why not? It works rather well in this. On second thought, have you ever seen Minoan statuary? (Or was it Cretan? I don't remember.) Very often the women are wearing a sort of boobless corset thing quite similar to what Medusa's got. Coincidence? Who knows......

:-) Werner Mueck replies: "I've given up rationalizing things 10. The color was from colored pencils (prismacolor brand)."

Reminds me of the sort of style seen on Gregory Maguire's covers. ("Wicked", "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister", "Mirror, Mirror", "Lost".) Very well done. I epecially love her eyes, and the shadow on the chair.

This is very cool... I like how you did the shadow on the chair, the interior of the dark room, and very nice anatomy! Good use of references it turns out realli well

:-) Werner Mueck replies: "Thanks, I drew the chair from scratch so any good comment about the chair is a welcome comment."

You know, I came upon this yesterday and I was about to leave a comment saying "This should get Mod's Choice!" but had to leave. Aynways, congrats on the great work!

I love the way you did her eyes, it freaked me out at first because they looked so life like. The shading is wonderful to and the pose, exactly how long did it take to make it just right?

:-) Werner Mueck replies: "I can't remember. The eyes were pretty easy though. I left a small circle white in the b&w drawing and when I colored in the yellow, I colored out past the black and it turned out looking pretty creepy."
