This is a water colour painting that I did for my GCSE project on portaiture. It was inspired by fantasy artists Molly Harrison and Jessica Galbreth. It is simply suppose to be of a fantasy stylised self-portrait, featuring an orb (like a crystal ball) and fairy wings.

the shading of the neck is my fave part, i think it’s the natural colouring, the purplish tone is so realistic. sorry that seems a wierd part to notice most of all, but i love all of it. the shading just struck me as well done. 2

:-) Silvannen Mystic Dragonrider Gerrard replies: "Thank you very much! ^_^ As I said to Anna (above) the shading was difficult to get right as I had to be really careful that I didn’t over do it. You should have seen my face when my art teacher first suggested to use purple!....but she was right! 1"

Whatever effect you used for the purple tentdrils looks really good. They look quite crystaline.

I used a technique called encaustic art, which involves using a special kind of wax and melting it on an iron before smooting it over non-absorbent paper and lifting the iron off the paper to create cool effects. You can probably get more information on the technique if you google: "encaustic art". Hope that was helpful! ^_^"

You used great bold colors to add definition and really make this picture pop, while at the same time, the muted colors have a pleasant subtly. Good work!
