John ten Wolde replies: "Hi Anita. Thank you for your compliments. You’re right that my works could benefit from backgrounds. In fact, the piece I’ve been working on for the last little while will have one. Its coming along slowly though; I don’t want to mess it up, so I’m taking my time.
My work may appear professional (and thank you kindly for saying so) but I’m really just a fumbling amateur. Drawing the human form (the hands, for instance) I’ve spent years perfecting, but backgrounds, elaborate costumes, and fussing over hairstyles I’ve never injected much effort into before, so that’s a big learning curve for me. My current drawings have received more research-and-design attention than anything I’ve ever done in the past.
My works will get more complex and ambitious as time goes on, you can count on it. " | |
